Beautiful, functional reproductionMay 31, 2010

When I first bought my 1932 vintage house two decades ago, the real estate agent told me that the original light switches - which by that point were long gone - had been "push button" switches, where there was an on button and an off button operating a hidden toggle. She recommended that I find replicas of those originals if I ever replaced a light switch.
When a 1970s era switch in my dining room quit being flaky and instead gave up the ghost completely, I remembered that recommendation, and found this Classic Accents line of switches. I bought this wall plate with the Classic Accents 600 Watt Single Pole Push Button Dimmer Light Switch.
The switch plate is beautiful and the switch has been great. Both installed into a standard switch box. Depending on your specific needs and tastes, Classic Accents makes a variety of single pole, three way, and dimmer switches, as well as high quality switch plates in a variety of finishes. If I ever get the money, I'll replace all the switches in my house with these!

So many metal cover plates nowadays are poorly executed - flimsy & with little definition to their contours.
These are the real deal - heavy forged brass, with very crisply executed contours. They're also available in a wide range of configurations & some very nice finishes (polished & lacquered brass is nice, but they also do less common but very attractive finishes like polished nickel - and even unlacquered brass finishes for those who want to go seriously old-school).
I wouldn't mind if these were a little less expensive (amazing how many cover plates you'll find that you have in your house!), but in this case you get what you pay for.
